π· What are Overtones?
Overtones are a series of harmonics above a fundamental tone. In this video the fundamental tone is the low C and the different harmonics are created based on that note.a
π· Harmonics or Partials
In this video I discuss the first three harmonics or partials on the Low C. The harmonics or partials go in this sequence.
First three harmonics:
- Harmonic 1: Octave Above Low C
- Harmonic 2: Octave and Fifth Above Low C (G with Octave Key)
- Harmonic 3: Two Octaves Above Low C (C with Octave Key)
The same intervals apply to every note you play. So if you play Low Bb it will sounds like this:
- Harmonic 1: Octave Above Low Bb
- Harmonic 2: Octave and Fifth Above Low Bb (F with Octave Key)
- Harmonic 3: Two Octaves Above Low Bb (Bb with Octave Key)
